Hepatitis A can affect anyone. It is a liver disease caused by the hepatitis A virus (HAV). Good personal hygiene and personal care can prevent Hepatitis A. Two doses of vaccine are recommended. It can last for at least fifteen years and possibly a person’s lifetime.
Hepatitis B is a serious liver disease caused by a virus. The virus is acquired by exposure to blood on the job, sex with an infected person, travel to certain countries, or illegal drugs. Many people are not sure how they got infected. Center for disease control and prevention recommends Hepatitis B Vaccine for all age groups to prevent Hepatitis B Virus (HBV). Everyone should get three doses of the Hepatitis B vaccine to prevent liver disease.
Most insurance companies are required to cover the cost of immunization under the new law, but a select number of older and more limited plans DO NOT yet apply to the new law. Original Medicare covers the cost of the vaccine if you get it from the provider who accepts the assignment. Liver Institute PLLC recommends that you get your vaccines from your primary care physician's office and bring your vaccination record to your next appointment.
