Hepatitis A can affect anyone. It is a liver disease caused by hepatitis A virus (HAV). Good personal hygiene and personal care can prevent Hepatitis A. Two doses of vaccine are recommended. It can last for at least fifteen years and possibly a person’s lifetime.

Hepatitis B is a serious liver disease caused by a virus. The virus is acquired by exposure to blood on job, sex with infected person, travel to certain countries or illegal drugs. Everyone should get three doses of Hepatitis B vaccine.

Most insurance companies are required to cover the cost of immunization under the new law, but a select number of older and more limited plans DO NOT yet apply to the new law.
